Many of my clients benefit from the therapeutic use of hypnotherapy for stress and addiction management, elimination of phobias, resolution of trauma, weight loss, and other concerns. Hypnotherapy is also helpful when used in conjunction with medical treatment.
A current review of the U.S. National Library of Medicine shows over 10,000 articles concerning hypnosis. A Professional Hypnosis Databank reports 1371 abstracts documenting the benefits of hypnosis.
The documented effective uses of hypnosis in medicine are wide-ranging and include hypnosis for; fibromyalgia, IBS, hypertension, non-pharmacological anesthesia, pain relief, anxiety and panic disorders, asthma, insomnia, enuresis, cancer, AIDS, hepatitis C, and diabetes.
Studies show that hypnotherapy is linked to faster healing times and to improved management of chronic illnesses. Clients report feeling more motivated to make healthy lifestyle choices that result in improved nutrition, exercise, and habit control.
The benefits of hypnosis in counselling include:
- Relaxation trainining
- Self empowerment
- Release of negative emotions, especially fear and denial
- Motivation to make lifestyle changes
- Improved sleep
- Ability to imagine and achieve positive outcomes
Hypnotherapy is an optional and supportive treatment, that is available to be used in conjunction with other counselling treatments, depending on the individual needs of each client.
